Hello English 1 students!
Please have your poetry notebooks open to the rough draft of your letter!
Here is today's agenda:
1. Warm up: in the "my poetry" section of your notebook, describe to me your favorite piece of clothing (shoes, shirt, hat, scarf, pants, socks...) using SENSORY DETAILS. Be prepared to share :)
2. Letter Revision- today you are going to read through the draft of your letter. Look at it CRITICALLY and think of how you can make it better! USE A PEN TO EDIT!!
CONTENT CHECK:
-Did you respond to the prompt completely?
-Does your first paragraph explain your memory and the background (i.e. will I understand what your letter will be about?)
-Do you explain why this memory is important and has stuck with you?
-Do you use sensory details in your second and third paragraphs?
GRAMMAR CHECK:
-Check your spelling and grammar, fix ANY mistakes.
-Make sure you have complete sentences!
STRUCTURE:
-Does your letter include a salutation (Dear________)?
-Are there THREE or more clear paragraphs?
-Did you indent your paragraphs?
-Did you end your letter with a salutation (Sincerely, Always, etc.)
After you have revised your essay, start writing the final draft on another page of your notebook (MY POETRY SECTION).
It needs to be neat and legible.
HW: Finish final draft, DUE TOMORROW
NOTE: There will be a quiz on imagery, rhyme scheme, and lyric poetry FRIDAY!
