HW: As we have done for the last two nights, please respond to the following questions about Act 4 on our class blog. Perhaps if too many of you blow it off, I will give you a pop quiz on the whole play tomorrow...your choice.
1. Is Paris sympathetic or unsympathetic towards Juliet?
2. What are three things that could go wrong with Friar Laurence's plan?
3. What did Capulet decide to do with the wedding?
4. How does Paris react to Juliet's death? What is he most upset about?
5. What do you think of Juliet's actions? Is it selfish? Why might YOU relate to her or feel sorry for her?
6. At this point, who do you think should be held most responsible for what will happen to Romeo and Juliet?
1.) Paris is sympathetic towards Juliet.
ReplyDelete2.) Friar Lawrence can get caught. He can get blamed for giving Juliet the potion. He can start a fued with the Capulets.
3.)Capulet decided to move the wedding further but then cancelled it after he found Juliet "dead".
4.)Paris was upset about Juliet's death and he was most upset about how Juliet died.
5.)I don't think Juliet's selfish for what she did because she knew she would be miserable throughout her whole marriage with Paris.
6.)I think the family should be held responsible for what happened to Romeo and Juliet because of they're family fued and how Romeo was a Montegue and Juliet was a Capulet.

1. To me, Paris seems unsympathetic to Juliet because he doesn't care what Juliet thinks and he seems so sure that Juliet loves him.
ReplyDelete2. Three things that can go wrong with Friar Lawrence's plan is that Juliet could possibly die, He can get caught and be exiled from the kingdom, or Romeo might think Juliet is really dead and do something crazy.
3.Capulet decided to use the wedding preparations for Juliet's funeral.
4.Paeis is really upset because he can't believe his true love has died the day before the wedding. He waited for a long time for that day and this is what he gets.
5. I think what Juliet is doing isn't selfish because her parents were forcing to do something that she does not want. I feel sorry for her because she had to do something risky to get away from her parents and be with Romeo.
6. I'm not com[lately sure because everyone had something to do with her death. I think it is mainly the Nurse because she helped Juliet in the beginning and let Juliet do what she wants which lead to this secret relationship.

ReplyDelete1. Paris is sympathetic in a way but he tends to be more worried about how this affects his life, not what the suffering of what Juliet had to go through.
2. Three ways the plan can go wrong is she could take too much of the potion and actually die, The friar might not get the news to Romeo in time, and Juliet might wake up too early.
3. He decides to use the wedding decorations for Juliets funeral.
4. Paris is upset but is more concerned how this effects him and he wont be as successful as he thought he was.
5. It is a bit selfish in a way but if you think about it her parents were being very selfish by forcing her to marry some guy, I feel bad for her because all she wants is too marry her true love Romeo but no one understands.
6. At this point I feel the friar is holding a lot of responsibility but if you think about it its really up too Romeo and Juliet

4. Friar only cared about the popularity he would get from marrying Juliet, he is most upset about how he did not get to marry her and gain more power.
5. I think Juliet’s actions were dumb, she barely knows Romeo and is risking everything to run away and get to know him. I think they were selfish but her parents are selfish as well. I might feel sorry for her because in the end she might not even end up liking Romeo and she gave up her old life for him.
6. I think Friar because hes the one kind of pressuring everything between them.

2. One thing is the Friar can get caught, Another thing is something could happen to Juliet when she drank the potion, Last thing is that Friar cant get caught about him giving her to the potion for she can ran away.
3. Capulet moved the wedding on day earlier.
4. Paris reacts upset but he is more worried about he's reparation.
5. I think Juliet's action were so dumb because Romeo and her have only been with each other for four days.
6. I think Juliet should be held more responsible because she could've disagreed with it.

Another thing that could go wrong is Juliet might wake up too earlie and she'd be laying in with dead people for a while. Lastly, Romeo could actually think that Juliet is dead and do something tragic.
3)The Aapulets made the day of the wedding to the day of Juliets funeral.
4) Paris is really upset, not because of her but because his whole plans with becoming wealthier are no ruined .
5)I do not think that juliets actions are selfish I mean so would do the same if my parents want me to marry someone I do not wish to marry it my happiness not theirs. Juliet is doing the right thing after her father called her all those names, he should learn how to take it because it was all their fault Juliet is doing this.
6) I think that both families are responsible for whats about to happen to Romeo and Juliet if it weren't for them fighting or fueding the tragedy would never occurred.

5.I think Juliets actions are not smart because she met Romeo only 4-5 days ago, but her actions are not selfish because her parents are making her marry Paris, I feel sorry for her because she has to do all that to be with Romeo.
