Question: Recall a time when you were an outsider of in the minority. How did you feel about being an outsider or minority member? Were you treated any differently from others? How did this experience make you feel about the group in control? Do you consider George and Lennie outsiders, why?
Also, this week we will be completing the Common Formative Assessment and Listening Task.
I remember back in junior high I would hangout with my two close friends all the time. One day they were just talking to eachother and hanging out. I felt left out. I felt sad and upset. I wasn't really treated differently , they just wouldn't talk to me as much as they talked and hungout together. At first George and Lennie were oursiders because they were new to the place but then they got to know the guys so I really don't think their oursiders right now. -Denise Gutierrez-
ReplyDeleteThe first time I felt a minority was when I was new at school. I felt scared and was really shy. I believe that they did because I was new. But thankfully there was this girl who ask me if I would like to hang around with her friends, I said sure. It was awkward because they that about I did even know about. I was just there listening. Its like when Lennie and George were new to there job. ------------ Jennifer Angeles----
ReplyDeleteThe only time i felt like an outsider was when i was new to my AVID class in 8th grade. Everyone had known each other from 7th grade AVID which i was not a part of AVID at the time. Everyone had something to talk about to each other but i didn't since i was new to the class. For the beginning of the class, i didn't really talk to anyone since i was shy but i was able to make another friend who was in AVID. She was shy too but she was a great friend. - Magali Enriquez
ReplyDeleteThe only time I felt a minority was when my sister had a house warming party and she invited all of her friends from work, which are all mostly Caucasian. So I felt like they really could not relate to our Mexican tradition. I think that Lennie and George are outsiders because they do not know everybody there like everybody who's there knows each other and nobody really knows them except each other. - Jennifer Espinoza Cruz.

ReplyDeleteI've been a minority many many times. It came to a time where i was pretty used to it. We all loose and gain different friends. Made me feel like crap, but really i couldnt do anything about it. In a way i felt like i was going to loose it all, but in another its just a way to see who your real friends are and who aren't . I learned to live with it. I don't think that Lennie and George are being treated like minors, all the farmers greet both of them very well as if they had been working there for many days years.
